Fresh weather calculations put the Longhorns ahead at Tennessee and give the Aggies a narrow conditioning edge at LSU

LAKE JACKSON, Texas, Sept. 24, 2026 — The SwampButt Underwear Scale of Sultry predicts road wins for Texas at Tennessee and Texas A&M at LSU in two of its eight featured college football games this weekend.

Texas visits Tennessee for a noon Eastern kickoff Saturday. The forecast near Neyland Stadium scores 3.8 out of 10, or “a little sultry.” At the same time, the forecast near Texas’ home venue in Austin scores 6.0, compared with 3.8 near Tennessee’s in Knoxville. Under the Scale’s climate-conditioning premise, Texas gets the pick.

The Texas A&M–LSU game presents a closer call. Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. Eastern kickoff in Baton Rouge carries a game-site score of 5.5, classified as “sultry.” The comparable forecast near Texas A&M’s home venue in College Station scores 5.8. That small difference gives the Aggies the Scale’s pick over LSU.

“The Tennessee forecast shows that a game does not have to be oppressively hot for the teams’ home conditions to differ,” said Nick Heraldson, a spokesman for SwampButt Underwear. “The A&M–LSU prediction is much tighter. These picks give us a way to test whether familiarity with hotter, stickier conditions matters on game day.”

The Scale combines temperature, humidity, sunlight and estimated fabric-drying conditions into a rating from 1 to 10. To make its picks, it compares forecasts near each team’s home venue at approximately the same time as kickoff. Those forecasts are proxies for possible conditioning, not measurements of how or where players trained. The model does not account for injuries, talent, coaching or betting odds.

The other featured Week 4 picks are Florida International over Long Island University, Miami over Central Michigan, Baylor over Colorado, UCF over TCU, Ole Miss over Florida and USC over Oregon. All 71 Week 4 forecasts are available online.

The Scale’s record through Week 3 is 146–112, including its Week 0 pilot. All 71 Week 4 games were recalculated using fresh weather forecasts on Sept. 23; 18 picks changed from the previous day’s run, while the Texas and Texas A&M selections remained the same. SwampButt Underwear has preserved the updated weather inputs, calculations and earlier picks in its Week 4 calculation record.
